The IAAS Local Committee Agriculture and Forestry University (IAAS LC AFU) is a dynamic and high-performing chapter under IAAS Nepal. Since its establishment, it has been dedicated to empowering agriculture and forestry students through leadership, innovation, and global exposure.

Founding and Early Years
Establishment
IAAS LC AFU was established in 2018 at Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur, Chitwan.
It was formed by a motivated group of students who believed that AFU needed a platform connecting students to global agricultural opportunities, international networks, and hands-on learning experiences.
Affiliation
Upon its formation, LC AFU became an official local chapter of IAAS Nepal, aligning itself with IAAS World and its mission of “Students of Agriculture Today, Leaders of Agriculture Tomorrow.”
Growth and Expansion
Over the years, IAAS LC AFU has grown into one of the strongest and most active LCs in Nepal.
Membership Growth
The committee has continuously expanded its membership, bringing together students from various faculties including: Agriculture, Forestry Animal Science, Fisheries, Agri-economics and extension.
Programs and Activities
LC AFU has led numerous impactful student-centered initiatives such as:

- Hosted events addressing major agricultural challenges such as climate resilience, agri-innovation, food security, and youth engagement in agriculture.
- Actively collaborated with IAAS Nepal to support national projects and policy-oriented discussions.
- Worked closely with local communities in Chitwan and beyond to promote sustainable and modern agricultural practices.
Recognition
IAAS LC AFU has been awarded as the Best Local Committee among all 12 LCs of IAAS Nepal, reflecting its excellence in leadership, activity implementation, and student engagement.
